Looking for a unique lunch or dinner spot? Nando's Per-Peri is definitely worth a try. Nando's is a South African chain that is well known for its flavorful Peri-Peri chicken and healthy sides. A couple of my friends and I went here this weekend for dinner and all got different things and everything tasted and looked great. They don't just have one specialty, their whole menu is yummy and has a lot of variety!
Nando's opened its first location in South Africa in 1987 and made its way over to America when it opened its first American location in Washington D.C in 2008. Nando's works hard to keep South African culture as an integral part of their business and designs each of their locations with South African furnishings and art. Peri-Peri chicken also comes from South Africa and is the center of their business. Peri-Peri chicken is "a pepper, a sauce, and a nod to our homeland" per their website.
When I go to Nando's, my favorite things to get are the 1/2 chicken with two sides or two quarter chicken legs with two sides. The best thing about Nando's is you can choose the level of spice you want and also choose from an array of sauces to dip. They have six different levels of spice ranging from "Plain-ish" to "Xtra Hot" and eight different dipping sauces to choose from. You can customize and create the exact flavor you want for your chicken or sides. One friend that I was with got the Chicken Breast Pita with two sides and said that she would get it again. One of her side choices was the sweet potatoes and she said that they were amazing. My other two friends both got 12 wings and two sides and were worried it was going to be too many wings, but both of them finished them all and said the chicken was tender and juicy. One of my friends got garlic bread as one of his sides and liked it so much, that he got two more orders!
Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Nandos! The environment was welcoming and clean and the employees were helpful and kind as well. Our food came out in a timely manner and we were able to order from our phones right to the table so it was hassle-free. Check out the Nando's in Towson sometime soon and let us know what you think!
